Health and Safety Advisor, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath

The site Health and Safety Advisor’s role is to support the management team and give commercial advice on all matters relating to health, safety and environment to support the corporate strategy. Reporting directly to the site Operations Manager they have a dotted line responsibility to the Group Health & Safety Manager and Group Environmental Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES / OBJECTIVES:

  • Manage & provide professional assistance on all matters relating to Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental to the site
  • Actively support the management team to meet Health, Safety and Environmental KPIs and performance objectives with the aim of improving site safety & commercial objectives.
  • Conduct and complete all site related & specialist risk assessments with the support of line management 
  • Produce and implement site specific safe working practices 
  • Produce and maintain accurate site accident data, produce accident information reports to identify trends & taking appropriate action. 
  • Conduct detailed accident investigations and implement recommendations to reduce accidents and incidents.
  • Manage Health, Safety & Environmental related training including the completion of the refresher training as required.
  • Manage emergency procedures, fire safety arrangements & policies relating to the site
  • Complete site inspections & report on corrective actions on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for the reporting & management of incidents HSE including any follow up any correspondence & action reports
  • Actively participates in Site Health & Safety committee meetings providing statistical information and Health & Safety advice on subjects as required 
  • Manage Health & Safety documentation & sure any company changes updates are implemented 
  • Manage 3rd part communication in relation to civil claims & documentation
  • Manage the first aid training, provision and supplies at site level ensuring the site is equipped to deal with first aid emergencies.
  • Management of on-site contractors & the permit to work system for high risk activities. 
  • Operate to the terms and conditions of the sites PPC / EA licence.

THE CANDIDATE

  • 2 years’ experience in a busy manufacturing environment 
  • Demonstrable experience dealing with all the above requirements
  • Educated to Degree level
