Vintage Reserve Dry Aged 30oz T-Bone Steak

1 Star

Vintage Reserve Dry Aged 14oz Bone In Striploin Steak

1 Star

Vintage Reserve Dry Aged French Dressed 5 Bone Rib

Judged by some of the most discerning palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs, buyers, retailers and producers, as well as food writers and journalists, Great Taste is the most coveted of all food and drink awards. As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to an outstanding product, which has been discovered through hours and hours of blind tasting.

Judges Comments:

  • “This was a very impressive-looking T-bone steak, which was smooth to carve. The fatty parts were lovely and creamy and acted as a good counter to the fillet. The overall mouthfeel was pleasant and buttery”.

  • “What a fine piece of beef. Great marbling, which made for a tender, juicy texture, and nice caramelised exterior giving sweet notes. We liked the beefy flavour and there was a nice steely, iodine note. Overall, a really delicious steak that we would happily devour”.

  • “Great ironey flavour and tender texture. We enjoyed this very much”.

  • “Very good steak aroma and generous depth to the cut. The fat is golden and tasty and the meat is tender but with enough texture to indicate a well-aged cut”.

  • “Rich and full of flavour, this striploin takes you on a journey with every bite. Creamy, buttery, gamey, beefy, it gives you huge amounts to savour. Delicious”!

  • “This looks like an impressive piece of meat, with some rich beefy notes rolling off the meat. The flavours of meat are fairly rich and have good longevity. The mouthfeel is textured with good bite but melts fairly quickly. A nice piece of meat”.

  • “The beef flavour is deep, intense and long-lasting. The fat is smooth and buttery with a deep flavour”.

  • “An impressive joint, with good marbling of fat and a juicy texture, especially in the rarer flesh. The sweetness and beefiness of the meat came through well on the palate and had a clean yet strong flavour”.

  • “A most impressive looking joint. We enjoyed the tenderness of the meat, the overall sweetness and light savouriness. The fat had some gentle if not overtly rich savouriness too, and the aftertaste proved sweet and clean.”

The Golden Fork awards and Supreme Champion will be announced at the Guild’s trade show, Fine Food Show North, taking place on Sunday 17 and Monday 18 October at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate.

Congratulations to everyone involved.
