Great Taste Awards 2022
Great Taste, the world’s most trusted food and drink awards, has announced its stars of 2022. We are proud to announce our West of Ireland Lamb Rack has been awarded the highest accolade of 3-stars at this year’s Great Taste Awards. To receive a 3-star accolade is the highest honour one can receive, as only 1.5% of products are awarded 3-stars, so this achievement puts our product amongst the elite.
Judged by some of the most discerning palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs, buyers, retailers and producers, as well as food writers and journalists, Great Taste is the most coveted of all food and drink awards. As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to an outstanding product, which has been discovered through hours and hours of blind tasting.
Great Taste Judges comments on our 3-star award winning West of Ireland Rack of Lamb included:
“This is a beautifully-prepared rack of lamb. The bones have been trimmed to perfection. It carves easily and cuts like a dream. On tasting, the meat is soft, tender and succulent. The fat is creamy and buttery. Those grassy, mineral notes come through and linger on the palate. It is clean and fresh tasting. You can actually imagine the lamb grazing on the fresh, green grass. This is truly exceptionally good.”
“Beautifully trimmed, this looks so succulent before carving. The lamb cuts so well. The flavour is pronounced, thanks partly to the good layer of fat, and the sweetness is bursting through. Tender, succulent and delicious.”
“Neatly prepared and butchered rack of lamb. The meat is tender and has a mild sweetness and a good level of richness. We felt this would appeal to the whole family as the flavour is not too characterful or strong but still has good depth.”
“An attractive, well-trimmed lamb rack. The meat was flavoursome, tender and succulent with a natural sweetness.”
“A very well-prepared rack of lamb – lovely clean bones – great butchery. The aroma is fresh and full of meadow. The meat itself is succulent, tender and full of grassy fresh flavours. Sweet and buttery. Soft and fragrant. The soft fat melts in the mouth. This meat is full of integrity and has the authenticity of a grass-fed lamb. Utterly delicious.”
